Spring League Information

Separate Middle School and High School/Prep School Divisions.

Most hockey players recognize that the regular practices and competition of the scholastic season provides for a major improvement in their game. Skating, puck control, and game skills certainly advanced as the season progressed.

While the spring brings a welcome change of pace and interests, many players seek to retain those hard earned skills by continuing to play once a week.

Over the years, players and families have recognized that a Managed Player Development League is the best way to go. In fact, many have found their skills were not just maintained, but enhanced!

  • Teams that are balanced, and rebalanced to provide fair and equal competition.
  • Experienced Professional Scholastic Coaches focused on teaching.
  • A prevailing atmosphere where personal effort and accomplishments is emphasized.
  • Freedom to experiment with new methods without undue pressure or repercussion.
  • A league that is directed towards improvement, rather than winning.

While the developers of this league have been providing similar programs for boys for over a decade, this will be the eleventh year that we are offering this to female players. To improve on last year's season, we have incorporated suggestions from parent /player questionnaires and coaches. This important participant imput and program adjustment is what the developers think makes the NEWHL both unique and successful. After directing the Girls Pre-Prep Showcase for many years, they felt the time was right for the Girls hockey community to not only accept, but also embrace the opportunities provided by player development league.
